Bob is demonstrating an easy way to make yourself an Android app. Everyone will make their own design decisions when creating their own app.

That's the problem though is that by using his method, you will always have an outdated and ugly app because App Inventor will only make Gingerbread style apps which have been outdated and ugly since before 2012 when Holo and now Material design were introduced...

If you want an app to survive in today's market, you need Material design as nobody wants to download Gingerbread stuff.

While I do think the graphics weren't the best, it does fit the theme of nostalgic radio, so I wasn't complaining about his specific app. However, I was complaining about the method which can only make instantly outdated and buggy apps.

I am a developer and know quite a few designers and developers and all hate App Inventor apps because they ruin the whole store.

Bob's app has had over 10,000 installations - not bad for an app that 'nobody wants to download'.

App Inventor creates rather code-heavy apps, but I don't see them as being any more buggy than any other app, IF you take care to handle all possible conditions - and plenty of people coding apps in whatever way tend to forget that.

There are a number of radionomy producers who are also IT professionals - but I think it is good to support ideas that help more people have the enjoyment of creating their own apps.

Seems like you missed the point, App Inventor apps are outdated the second you make them in both design and functionality. I never was saying anything specific about Bob's app, just the method.

I think that the app would be better if material design or holo was implemented but that's a limitation of app inventor and there's no alternative except making your own from code.

This is why I don't have a native app and prefer responsive web. I make one "app" that works everywhere. You could say native is faster, but my site at least loads in less than a second, doesn't use many external sources, and doesn't require JavaScript. Since music still plays in the background, an app is not necessary.

This is mostly opinion and I know a lot share this but you can have one and I will respect it.

I have to agree with you. It's a good start and if you aren't happy with the method , you can use your own. Technology is evolving everyday and as for ugly looking app , it is a very subjective matter. There are many who do not like the latest material design.

What became of the Radionomy app that was in the stores? Even Windows Store had one.
The problem with everyone doing their own is it creates one big mess to anyone making a radionomy query.
