That is one of my possible plans. This would also allow for the soliciting of operational donations and it tends to attract independent/community-oriented artists and talent as well (playing these artists would further reduce the potential royalty expenses). I have worked for and volunteered for other non-profit organizations and have a fair idea how to work it.

I see some producers here and elsewhere discuss making a go of it under the SoundExchange $500/year license. However, either there are a lot of producers operating under a registered 501 non-profit organization, or they’re misunderstanding that $500/year is a minimum for non-non-profits.

Under the $500/year license, it might actually be feasible. Anybody have or thinking about obtaining 501 non-profit status to operate under? It doesn’t look trivial, but I’m thinking if you have a “niche” (like my stations) you might be able to set up something up that qualifies for the status.

There is nothing on the actual Shoutcast RMO showing how much storage you may have available or left. But, I was able to import a 2,238 song station over with no warnings or problems, though, so take that at face value.

Click on the little vertical bar on the upper right side of https://radiomanager.shoutcast.com and you'll see the storage used and the total storage available:

Thanks, Domi, that is helpful to know. And, sure enough, I notice it now... 23 GB of 71 GB consumed.

I present to you a "pro tip":

If you are planning to utilize another non-related service, or are just planning on "throwing in the towel", you should first migrate your station(s) to Shoutcast anyway.

Once migrated, you can choose to delete the station. Unlike deleting a station here on Radionomy, deleting a station on Shoutcast promptly removes it from all Shoutcast and Radionomy directories, and does not result in a "like station" or Jamendo redirect. Your station is just simply gone. Attempting to listen to the stream results in a 404 error. It's all as if it never existed on here.

I did this with one of my lower performing stations to reduce my licensing fees, and it indeed works.

So, as "doomsday" nears, consider this.

Why is Radionomy shutting down in the US?

I'm not surprised by that at all actually.
