My stations are at least that successful too, so I am hoping the monetization works and then I'd be able to cover these licensing fees and shoutcast fees. Based on some forum items at http://forums.winamp.com/forumdisplay.php?f=180 , one may have to wait 5 or 6 months for payment, though, but it does seem like they ARE paying.

Seems to me the SoudExchange minimum fee of $500 would cover my station. Even at the $59 rate for streamlicenses, if I can monetize my station in shoutcast, it should cover that amount (barely).

I checked and did not see a real Shoutcast app in the Google/Android play store.
Apple has one that accesses Shoutcast stations, but it is called the "Radio and Music Online Tuner" from a third party developer.

Maybe I am missing something, but we won't be able to get much of an audience (or monetize it) without a Shoutcast phone app, right?

Do listeners see any change after the migration to Shoutcast?

Is there any info as to whether the Shoutcast platform stations are carried on TuneIn?

The migration page says ... up to 5GB of storage. All our streams are over that... so what's the additional cost?

Is anyone at Radionomy anticipating questions?

Domi: Do you plan to send out more details about the migration and what to expect for those of us who have invested years into Radionomy?

TuneIn quit accepting applications for new stations, as of a few months ago. If you have a current listing, even if it's dormant, you can update it. Otherwise, no new station listings are being taken.

If there is anything good out of all of this (and that is stretching it)...at least stations which move to the Shoutcast platform should be able to add their listen URLs to various mobile apps and won't be blocked as was the case with Radionomy. Obviously, with Shoutcast no longer covering the music royalties on stations' behalf, they aren't concerned with limiting their streams on mobile apps. I do know the new shoutcast stream format ( http://streamingv2.shoutcast.com/Statio ... %3bq%3d0.9 ) is compatible with at least the wifi radio I use, as I added a station there which made the transition to shoutcast this morning and the new listen URL is playing fine.

This is no surprise it has come to this point. I thought I heard that music licensing rates were increased 44% not long ago, so it is no wonder Radionomy is ready to bail. US listeners refuse to get involved with fighting for small webcasters, getting the SWA restored, as they assume they will always have an unlimited supply of Pandora, Spotify, and the like; they for the most part are not listening to small webcasters, so to them, this doesn't affect them, hence they won't get involved. Most of the internet-based radio stations have failed to get involved either, and from my own experience working with them trying to fight these music licensing rates since 2016, they are too busy lamenting and whining about their situation instead of doing anything constructive to get the rates reduced. Others want to go into political discussions about why congress can't/won't act on our behalf and again, is fruitless and does not accomplish anything (so much for at least trying to contact congress about it, right)? No one said it would be easy, but complaining and bitching about the situation and doing nothing productive to resolve it solves NOTHING. As the old adage goes, we have made our own bed and must now lie in it.

The fact that we have to
a) pay both Sound Exchange AND the various PROs like BMI, ASCAP, etc.
b) send station logs to Sound Exchange of all the music we play (talk about a no-fun time-suck)
c) and start paying monthly fees to Shoutcast after the year trial is up

makes me think that going back to the revived Live365 (which takes care of all that messy licensing business) is both cheaper and less of an almighty hassle. Anyone else see better options out there?

Not happy about Radionomy dropping those of us in the US but i do understand why. I am also very thankful to radionomy for providing an outlet for myself to learn the ropes of running an online radio station, building a website for it and promoting it via facebook and Twitter without charging a single penny to do it. I have learned a lot an will take that on to Shoutcast and see what happens.

Thank You Radionomy!
