Will iTunes stop streaming Radionomy stations as well?

Mine also. Got the following from Tune-In:

Imran

Hello,

As you may have read in the news, Radionomy, Inc. has been sued by Sony Music and a number of its record labels for, among other things, failing to obtain, comply with and/or pay royalties under the necessary licenses to make digital audio transmissions of sound recordings.

Scores of stations hosted and transmitted by Radionomy and listed in the TuneIn directory have also been the subject of notifications of claimed infringement sent to TuneIn by Sony Music.

Out of an abundance of caution and pursuant to the TuneIn End User License Agreement and Terms of Service, TuneIn has decided to unilaterally remove or disable access to all stations that appear to TuneIn to be hosted by Radionomy.

Sincerely,

Imran
TuneIn

I would have appreciated a notice in advance from Radionomy so I could at least add a promo to our stations and invite TuneIn listeners to move... not having a "headsup" is unconscionable.

So with that in mind... Radionomy, PLEASE notify us in advance if there is any other change coming that you are aware of so we can at least try to respect and keep as much of our audience as possible before we drown.

We lost half our audience in a day from our four stations because of the TuneIn issue. Had we known... we probably could have kept many of them.

What about Windows Media Guide, iTunes, Sonos, Apple TV, Chromcast, or any other portal that has their own aggregator of Internet radio other than TuneIN??

Just posting on this forum is not sufficient... please send a notice to our emails. Wading through this forum to get reliable and timely updates is a nightmare.

We've been told today that we have been dropped from Sonos- at least one of our listeners can no longer find us on their radio.

I think this is the beginning of the end.

Sonos was a huge audience contributor to one of our stations.

I believe Radionomy needs to send us a note with some kind of information about the near future. Silence to thousands of broadcasters is not an option during this time. Without some kind of plan in place, we all suffer greatly.

Should we spend any time building audience, adding new music, doing promotion? Radionomy's business will fall flat on it's face unless they plan to be more proactive on this issue.

Should we be looking for a new home?

It seems like every day I pop into these forums, there is more bad news about this service dropping us or that dropping us. I am finding it harder and harder to throw any money into this hobby. FYI, I have 7 stations and buy ALL the music heard on said stations.

Plus, my wife recently had Cancer surgery (15 hour surgery to be exact) and is going through Radiation and Chemo treatments and I had hip surgery last Tuesday (Full hip replacement). The Radionomy drama is something I/we all could live without!

Skyline:

I hear ya. I'm facing similar challenges, and Internet radio has been a great opportunity to use my lifetime of skills to build something I can be proud of...and to struggle with the Radionomy issues does dampen the joy of it.

By the way, that's a very nice pop up player on your site. Is that something you made or can it be purchased somewhere?

What are your audience numbers like? And, where "has" your audience come from, that is, TuneIn, Windows Media, iTunes, etc?

My fellow producers, if you look at what's happening with the streaming services thats dropping Radionomys Programming, Tune In, Nobex and now Sonos you don't have to guess and wonder, it's happening right before your eyes, This lawsuit Sony file against Radionomy has spooked the Streaming Industry and they are jumping ship one by one, All we producers can do is ride it out and see where this ends up, I think Radionony may be okay in other countries but as far as them being able to broadcasting in the US, i think it's just a matter of time when Radionomys Broadcasting will be totally blocked in th US, The only streaming service that's keeping me with decent listeners is ITunes, If ITunes drops Radionomy then that's the end of the road for my stations.
