TuneIn didn't make a decision that it was easier. TuneIn received a letter from Sony demanding that all Radionomy stations be identified and taken down.

Where can I read that letter?

Thanks,
I know this one, I thought it was another letter :D

Tune In is without doubt the largest stream there is; for all Radionomy stations to be taken off there is the end of Radionomy stations. I formally propose that Radionomy should charge stations from now on. A simple costing process taking a few days should come up with a cost that will provide the much-needed revenue that Radionomy needs to pay their bills!

Having said that, can we trust Radionomy to pay their licences if we give them the money, given their current track record that has resulted in this mess!

I would welcome comments from anyone on here.

My station dropped about 33% as I expected, but the listeners are starting to find alternatives. Most of the other stations in my genre relied less on TuneIn and their numbers are pretty much the same (taking into account weekend fluctuations). It is not the end for radionomy stations - you just need to think of alternative ways to attract listeners.

Here's what we at 3WK.COM just posted to our homepage:
-----------------------------------------

For our mobile users, As of May 1st, 3WK stations are temporarily not listed in the Tunein app, due to a dispute between Sony and Radionomy. Our streams can be manually added to the app. Just copy these url's into the + Add Custom Url button in the app:

3WK Undergroundradio: http://www.3wk.com/3wku-aac.m3u
3WK Classic Alternative Radio: http://www.3wk.com/3wkca-aac.m3u
3WK Classic Undergroundradio: http://www.3wk.com/3wkcu-aac.m3u

We also encourage you to write to Tunein at support@tunein.com asking them to re-add 3WK.

An even better idea for "Mobile" listeners is to listen at the 3WK Mobile Webpage
-----------------------------------

We hope that Tunein decides to readd our streams.

It seemed like I had a considerable stay of execution, but, yep, despite playing little-to-no Sony artists on my stations, they're gone as of yesterday, too. I hope this whole thing can be figured out. In the meantime, I'll be steering mobile listeners towards the Nobex dedicated apps that I have set up...

It appears Radionomy itself took statons off the TuneIn app to limit listenership in order to comply with CRB royalty rates in the US, which have gone up by a multiple of six this year.
They're also suspending payments to producers for US listening.

They deliberately wrote it in a way that could be interpreted that way. Those of us who have been following these events know what happened.

Yeah, I know what originally happened, but they're not kidding about needing to limit audience. The new CRB rates to SoundExchange are exorbitant. Those of us that also have stations on StreamLicensing are finding the need to limit audience as well. It's counter-intuitive, but more listeners than your budget will allow will drive you out of business.

I was not aware of the whole "problem" until Saturday when I noticed, that I had significantly less listeners. I got on tunein to check if my stream was up. And noticed what had happened, like so many others. THIS is a HUGE mess since approx 30% of my traffice came from tunein.com. I had more than 4 k followers on tune in, I have a FB group for my station that has more than 2500 members. I get lots of emails and messages, ranging from "being concerned" to "being angry".

And there is NOTHING I can do about it. This is TRULY p****** me off!!

For people who have made stations a favourite in Tunein, when they click the station name, Tunein sometimes plays an announcment saying the station is no longer available and is directing you to another similiar station they think you'll enjoy.

This makes it sound like the station is out of business.

Radionomy should get with Tunein and ask them to change the verbage to include something about visiting the stations website to listen. Would be nice of Tunein still had website links at least.

My 2 cents.
