You can still make money with Internet Radio, just not with Radionomy or Shoutcast for Business.
The reason Radionomy went dead, is no one @ target spot could sell enough advertisers to pay their music royalties.
I certainly will not pay Radionomy's Shoutcast for business, cross my fingers hoping that target spot will have enough adverts, so I can have just enough to break even.
This does not include the royalties I have to pay out (out of my own pocket). Radionony's Shoutcast for business model is not worth the hassle.
Most of the Radionomy stations here in Canada I have listened to, only carried one or two adverts, the rest were music fillers. Shoutcast streams were no diiferent than the Radionony streams.
Radionomy and Shoutcast were almost identical mirrored services, with the only exception that Shoutcast producers had to pay for their music royalties separately (as it was not included in the agreement with Radionomy).
Closing Radionomy down and moving all their Radionomy producers to Shoutcast, it was believed that could save them tons of money without sending money to SoCan Sabam &.Sound Exchange for royalty payments.
It didn't necessarily make a difference, as most Radionomy producers went to Live 365 & Toronto Cast. Some American producers of Radionomy suspended their services, while looking for alternatives.
Radionomy once had over 50,000 producers signed up at one time to their free services, now that's just a distant memory.
Radionomy did allow some producers to earn some income. Americans were allowed to collect up to 2016 (when Radionomy was sued by Sony for unpaid music royalties).
Some American producers, including some moderators in this forum never got paid for revenue sharing payments that were promised by Radionomy but still pending.
The French producers were allowed to collect up to the end of 2019, when Radionomy shuttered their services altogether. peellandfm wrote:
Forget about making a living with internetradio.
The only country where you could earn a little money after a lot of listening hours is France.
