Just a couple of questions: How many here are thinking of just going dark on or before the May 31st Date? Is there a better deal out there than what has been offered? Not sure at this point what my decision will be.

At this point, I’m thinking Sonixcast or turning out the lights.

The only viable alternatives that I know of are Live365, SonixCast and TorontoCast. None of which are perfect and none of which are free. Radionomy's free has gone the way of the Dodo bird. I used the old Live365 until it died and went to Radionomy. Now Radionomy will expire shortly. I have been 'casting on SonixCast since 2016 and TorontoCast since 2017 and will continue to do so until they die from over regulation by our governmental entities. Or I die, whichever comes first.

Avinu,

Our history sounds similar. We were on the original Live365 from 2000-2016, then Radionomy from 2016 until now.

If you don't mind, please post a summary of your experiences with SonixCast, TorontoCast and if possible the relaunched Live365. I'm sure it would be of benefit to many of the broadcasters here, especially those in the US.

I have no experience with the new Live365 so I can't comment. SonixCast and TorontoCast are not without their eccentricities but have both been stable platforms. I never use their automation (except for emergencies) because I use SAM for live automation. I just uploaded several hundred tracks to each for backup emergencies and let 'er rip. For those that seek to AutoDJ, SonixCast uses "BoomBox" and TorontoCast uses "Liquidsoap" but I can't comment on either.

SonixCast has very pretty graphical statistics, but they are almost useless. TorontoCast has great statistics.

Google "liquidsoap" for more information.

Hope this helps a little.

To those who have gone to SonixCast, is their UI but especially uploading files always tremendously, horribly slow? I uploaded a couple dozen tracks last week, and almost threw in the towel because it's so awfully slow. Took at least an hour to upload a couple dozen, and I'm not really sure how long it took because I gave up waiting for it complete and came back later. Trying again today, and again it's still painfully slow. At this rate it's going to take months of work just to get my tracks uploaded.

It helped a lot! Thank you.

As of this afternoon, subject to change, I'm thinking of trying Torontocast and Sonixcast. Their prices are cheap enough to try both.

I've already tried the new Live365 a year or so ago and, aside from the price, it's also good. My biggest gripe with them is that the "Auto-DJ" is weak and playlist creation is cumbersome. Should neither of the Canadian services fit my needs I'd probably go with Live365 for one station.

It looks like you're using SAM to send the same stream to multiple services at the same time. Which service are you using for TuneIn and your Nobex widget?

Also, does either SonixCast or TorontoCast use your embedded album art in their players? It appears Live365 pulls the album art from an on-line database not what's embedded in each file.

Thanks in advance for the help.

It appears Live365's "Clockwheels as AutoDJ" mode is fairly new and can produce better results than just random AutoDJ mode.
