Still waiting to find out how I can migrate my Canadian stream to Shoutcast. Since Radionomy deletes any station not holding 130 hours and then reuses the station name to play trash and ruin the name, I would like to find out how to go about moving my Radionomy stream off radionomy and onto Shoutcast. The size of the listening market keeps shrinking as countries get blocked and the numbers keep getting harder to hit. I am under the impression I can't use my Radionomy station name on shoutcast unless I transfer it. This is my 3rd or fourth request for this information.

If my understanding of the benefits of moving it to shoutcast are in error, please explain.

Thanks

Hi,

It's a good idea, jring2. Since I have more or less the same issue, i.e. missed the USA's listeners for more than 6 months ago till now, I just think about to have a copy of my Radionomy's station radios to Shoutcast Business without cancel my account/stations on Radionomy. With this idea I can get a wider listeners from the same stations.

But, how can we do that? If I apply for a new account on Shoutcast, I will get only 7 days free trial (not 1 year for free).

Hope that I can have my listeners from USA again :-)

Is there a Raionomy alternative to stream outside the US? If I'm understanding this correctly, Radionomy will no longer be broadcasting in the US... but what if we want to continue streaming outside the US? Half of our audience is in Germany, France, UK, Italy and Canada... so what if I just give up the US?

The Radionomy stations under an US account will be closed as for May 31, 2019, unless you migrate your them to Shoutcast for Business.

Hello,
Just wondering, but if a Radionomy US station is moved to a new location (a different country) does it continue on Radionomy?
Or is it dependent on the what country it was originally registered under?

That's a question I ask the management, I'll let you know as soon as I'll get more information.

Yes... I'd like to know that as well. That could be strategic for the future of some of us small streamers.

Topic 1:
Why is Radionomy ending US activity? What licenses does Radionomy have for the music I play on my station? Who does Radionomy pay royalties to for the music I play on my station? What does Radionomy pay for the licenses and royalties? They never disclosed any of this in the past, but I think it's time since they are booting US producers. I need the information to help me decide if I want to migrate to Shoutcast.

Topic 2:
Some of my songs are "blacklisted" when a daily plan is generated. Therefore, I can't add songs to the daily plan. Why does Radionomy "blacklist" a song? What does "blacklist" mean? The songs that are "blacklisted" in a daily plan still play. When a daily plan has no blacklisted songs I can add songs, if the songs aren't blacklisted. This is all confusing. Is Shoutcast going to blacklist these songs? I need more information about this to help me decide if I want to migrate to Shoutcast.

Thanks,
Gary

So what will this mean for us listeners? Will the Radionomy app get removed from the App Store, and if so, where are we going to listen now?

Domi, if I have a friend in Ireland take over ownership of my stations, can they stay alive that way?

No one in the US will be able to listen to Radionomy if that answers your question. That's what this is about.

Then how are we going to listen?

@Gary
There are 2 types of licenses:

1. Sound recording Copyright: it's the “statutory License”. It covers public performance rights and allows the radio station to play any type of music. In the United States, you have to contact SoundExchange.

2. Copyright (songwriters and composers). Besides obtaining music licenses covering public performance rights for sound recordings, you will also need to obtain licenses from the Collective Management Organizations managing copyrights for songwriters and composers and this, in each territory where you broadcast. There are several Collective Management Organizations in the US and each songwriter or composer may belong to only one performing right organization, e.g. ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GLOBAL MUSIC RIGHTS.

Radionomy might blacklist some tracks if there is no agreement with the organization of the songwriter or composer, or if the rights holders refuse the broadcasting in streaming (eg Prince).

Currently, Shoutcast uses the same Planner as Radionomy. Some rules are hardcoded (eg DMCA rule about the maximum occurrences of the same artist in a period of time), however, a new Planner will be released this year, allowing the broadcaster to enable or disable a rule (if, for instance, the broadcaster streams audio tracks free of right).

Shoutcast for Business includes a geolocation setting. The broadcaster may decide n which country the stream will be available. By default, the stream is available all over the world.
