Hello,

I'm a goth and punk station, and my station is getting popular enough that I want to sell a little airtime to gothic boutiques. I'm in Fremont, and the one boutique i've approached is in Sacramento. Is that local enough? They don't really make it clear what constitutes 'strictly local' when you have an international audience base. So a boutique in Sacramento can only be advertised in Sacramento? Or since they're also an online mail order place based in Sacramento as well as a physical storefront, can I simply advertise their web site and that's okay?

Not many of the goth crowd go to Buffalo Wild Wings. They do, however, shop at boutiques like the one I mentioned. Can anyone clarify this for me?

I dont wanna step on any toes as i dont work for radionomy BUT the way i read it and took it the local advertising bit sounds to me like as long as it is not national ie could be in conflict with targetspot advertising it would be ok. i think they just do not want people airing ads that they could air because they would loos potential money??? dont quote me but thats how i take it.

Hello,

The Producer Pact says:

"The Radio Station Producer may however insert strictly local advertising (the business of the advertiser has to be local meaning limited to the advertiser’s original region) in its Radio Station for a maximum of 2 minutes per hour in the same Ad Break. For this type of advertising (strictly local), ... "

So if the advertiser business is a shop in Sacramento, no problem even if you don't live in this city but if it is a website, it is worldwide, not local.

Thanks Domi for your clarification. So what happens to global brands like KFC, Cocoa Cola, Mobil for instance that have local factory/presence in my locality and target strictly local audience with or without local languages with local currency mention? Please, can this category of Advertisers pass as local? Thanks.

If it is not a local business, it is not allowed. So the answer is no.
And I guess that these trademarks will not involve in a campaign on a particular station, their HQ will advertisene at a national level.

Most companies I know have a website which means none of them are local.

These sort of things need CLEAR definition. There are way too many "unclear" things in these agreements that give way to a wide variety of lenient or strict interpretation.

I'm not big enough to worry about such things yet, but they "might" become important things to clarify.
