Another thing that works very well to increase listening is social media. I am on all social media sites. Also, getting on social media isn't just about promoting your station with tweets on what you play. What really works is supporting local artists if your format allows you to. It is good for the industry as a whole and it helps you gain more listeners. Playing their music means the local artist will support you by re-tweeting you to their fans who will in turn listen to your station. If you support 10 independent artists and if each of these artists have 10,000 twitter fans, that's a potential exposure to 100,000 new potential listeners! This has worked for me immensely to gain more listeners!
